SHR treatments are effective based on their selective absorption properties. When intense pulsed light penetrates the epidermis, the energy of the light is absorbed in large amounts by the pigments in the epidermis. High-energy and dark-colored skin is at high risk for treatment. In addition, most of the heat is reflected and refracted at the same time, and only 30% – 40% of the energy can be utilized. Therefore, more energy is needed for better treatment results.
